Brake Tests
When you bring your K4 or Sportage to our team, a technician will carefully inspect every part of the braking system. This typically includes a quick test drive, especially if you’ve reported a specific problem. That way, they can look for symptoms such as grinding noises, strange vibrations, or a spongy brake feel. Next, they’ll raise the vehicle and remove its tires so that they can get a closer look at the entire brake assembly, including the pads, calipers, rotors, and brake lines. If the car performs well during the test and there is no sign of excess wear or damage, you’ll get your keys back and be free to spend the rest of your afternoon at Jackson Park.
Brake Replacement
If our technicians do identify an issue, we’ll get started on the replacement process. The most common parts that need to be swapped out are the brake pads, because they lose a small fraction of their material by design every time you use them to slow down on US 20. The rotors, which the pads press against, can also become warped or damaged, which can lead to rough, uneven braking every time you approach a stop sign. A K5 or Telluride’s brake fluid is another item our technicians will inspect during a service appointment. Instead of waiting until the last moment to stop, bring the vehicle to a halt more gradually — slow down without hitting the pedal when it’s safe to do so. Driving defensively and leaving more space between your Seltos or Carnival and the car ahead means that you won’t need to stomp on the brakes to avoid a collision. Excess weight can also wear down a set of pads more quickly, so try to avoid leaving extra cargo in the trunk.
