The all-new, all-electric Kia EV9 is set to hit Chicagoland's roads soon, generating quite a buzz. As Kia's first dedicated electric vehicle (EV), the EV9 is a step forward in the automaker's efforts to electrify its lineup. Here's everything you need to know about this exciting new vehicle.

Trim Levels

The 2024 EV9 sets the stage for Kia's entry into the world of all-electric vehicles and will be available in five unique trim levels, ensuring there's just the right EV9 for everyone. The Light RWD (rear-wheel drive) serves as the base model. Second in line is the Light Long Range RWD. The last three trims serve as the all-wheel drive variants, including the Wind AWD, Land AWD, and GT-Line AWD.

Performance & Capabilities

The standard all-electric powertrain provides 215 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This powerful rear electric drive motor has an EPA-estimated range of 230 miles and consists of a 76.1 kWh battery. The available dual motor all-wheel drive significantly boosts power with 379 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.

The EV9 has a ground clearance of up to 7.8 inches and can tow up to an impressive 5,000 pounds. For your convenience, there’s also an onboard power generator as well as a smart power liftgate.

Charging

The Kia EV9 supports fast charging via ultra-fast 800v DC compatibility, providing swift and impressive charging speeds. There's even an available 240v level 2 charger that you can install at your home for convenient charging. When you're on the go and need a top-off, there are over 41,000 compatible charging stations around the United States.

Cold weather conditions are expected in Chicago, and thankfully, the EV9 includes a heat pump to help sustain the all-electric driving range.

Interior Design and Technology

The interior of the EV9 is the epitome of sleek, modern design. Inside, it offers a roomy and comfortable cabin with seating for up to seven with a second-row bench seat. It has heated and ventilated front seats, a resilient SynTex seat trim, and an available heated steering wheel for enhanced comfort.

The EV9 Land AWD model provides many luxurious enhancements like second-row heated and ventilated seats, multi-color ambient mood lighting, an upgraded memory driver's seat featuring relaxation mode, a power leg rest, and a 14-speaker Meridian premium audio system.

Infotainment encompasses a 29.6-inch panoramic display that includes navigation capabilities. In addition, it features an over-the-air update system to enhance existing features and provide additional ones effortlessly. 

Safety Features

The all-new EV9 doesn’t skimp on safety while providing over 20 standard driver assist and advanced collision avoidance systems like auto emergency braking with rear cross-traffic and blind-spot collision avoidance. Additionally, there's an available blind spot and surround view monitor to further increase your driving confidence.
